Could Wild West Online fill the Red Dead Redemption void for PC gamers?

Wild West Online looks interesting. An official gameplay trailer for the upcoming title hit this week, and it features some combat, exploration, town content and a bit more.

Quite honestly, it looks like a rougher, multiplayer take on all of the side activities offered in Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption, a game that’s never released for the PC platform. Given its history, it’s doubtful it’ll ever see the light of day for PC players. The sequel might, though that’s not been announced yet, but I doubt the original ever will.

So, this might be the PC platform’s next closest bet. At least for now. This game is being developed exclusively for the PC platform. It looks a little rough around the edges, and I’m particularly put off by the stiff fists that pop up and sway while the character walks, but the atmospherics look absolutely brilliant.

I’m a western fan. I read books about the genre, can’t get enough of the old movies and mark Red Dead Redemption as one of my favorite games of all time partially for its setting. Wild West Online looks like a fun pond to dip my toes into while I wait for Rockstar’s sequel due next year. Who knows, maybe I’ll fall in love.

The title is due to release this year. It will not be free-to-play, but the price hasn’t been determined yet.
