If you’ve been eyeballing an Oculus Rift headset bundled with the device’s touch controllers, now is a great time to buy. For a limited time (Oculus doesn’t indicate how long), the bundle is priced at $399.
That’s roughly the same price as PlayStation VR without any Move controllers.
This discount is part of the companies “Summer of Rift” event. Expect big sales on existing games and software, as well as new content announcements as the summer doldrums sweat on.
$399 is cheap. The Oculus Rift and Touch bundle normally sells for $598. That, too, was a price cut, because the bundle once went for a whopping $800. Compared to that mark, a $399 VR headset for the PC and motion controllers that have been warmly received is practically a steal.
If you’re waiting to pull the trigger, I get it. VR is a fresh medium, and who knows how much longer we’ll see strong development for it. Is it a flash in the pan or are we finally getting the hardware right? That’s the risk all buyers are taking right now.
At least with this sale you’ll take the risk with a little less money on the table.
