Google Calendar just got a lot more useful for everyday use

Google has updated its Calendar application for iOS with support for a Today widget, allowing you to glance at upcoming events from the “Today” section of the lock screen and notification shade.

As noted by the folks over at The Verge, the preview can also be accessed on an iPhone 6S or iPhone 7 by pressing down (3D Touch) on the Google Calendar icon on the home screen.

With iOS 11, Apple’s restricting all notification access to the lock screen and consequently paying a bigger focus on widgets — so Google couldn’t have picked a better time to add compatibility.

Big G hasn’t opted for a phased rollout

From what we can tell, Big G hasn’t opted for a phased rollout, so you should be able to install the update right away; open up the App Store, search for Google Calendar, then tap Update.
