Nougat’s market share is growing, but Marshmallow is still top of the table

Over the course of the past month, a handful of Nougat-totting smartphones have hit the market — and that’s reflected in the latest Android distribution figures, which show that adoption of Android 7.0 and Android 7.1 has climbed a cool 2 percent from last month.

What’s more interesting, however, is that Marshmallow’s market share has risen by 0.6 percent, further securing its lead at the top of the table, where it’s followed by Lollipop, KitKat, Jelly Bean, Ice Cream Sandwich and Gingerbread (in that order).

These numbers don’t account for all Android-powered devices

As you’re probably aware by now, distribution data is collected by recording the OS a handset was running when it accessed the Play Store over a seven-day period, so if a user didn’t download an app, their handset won’t be included.
