Samsung’s working on a Bixby-powered smart speaker, but (obviously) it’s delayed

Even though Samsung is still yet to release the English build of Bixby Voice, the firm is working on its own Bixby-powered smart speaker, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The publication didn’t provide any information about the design, features, and specifications of the unit, which has been internally codenamed Vega, but we’re guessing that it’ll be manufactured by Harman Kardon.

As a result of what we can only assume is a lack of resources, Samsung has been unable to ready a stable English-speaking version of Bixby — and that’s taken a toll on the release date of the smart speaker.

Bixby Voice should have been live in a number of different regions by now, but it’s currently only available in South Korea. The WSJ expects it to debut in the United States by the end of July, though that seems a little too optimistic.

Hurry up, Samsung

It would probably be wise for Samsung to strap on its running shoes and start manufacturing the Vega if it wants to beat Apple’s recently-announced HomePod to the market.
