Galaxy Note 8 looks awfully familiar in latest leak

On Tuesday, an image highlighting the protective screen cover for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 was shared on Twitter. The handset appears to have retained the same near bezel-less design as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, though — understandably — it’s a little larger.

Obviously, as the Galaxy Note 8 is part of the Galaxy Note range, it’ll come complete with an S Pen. However, Samsung is rumored to have armed the stylus with a slew of nifty new features, including compatibility for its digital assistant, Bixby.

Now it’s time to address the elephant in the room: the fingerprint reader. If recent leaks are anything to go by, Samsung has decided against installing an optical fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy Note 8 in favor of the rear-facing sensor found on the Galaxy S8.

Samsung claims that its in-display fingerprint reader isn’t secure enough to be released, but an image that surfaced on Weibo two weeks ago suggests that the firm ran into a technical hitch; it was unable to match the brightness of the area containing the reader to the rest of the screen.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus saw a price hike when they hit the shelves, so it’s only natural that Samsung follows suit with its flagship phablet. In fact, the device is expected to be its most expensive smartphone to date, priced at an astonishing $1,100.

Has Samsung been taking notes from rumors surrounding the upcoming iPhone 8? We’ll have to wait and see.
