The popular modding tool OpenIV, used for Rockstar games like Grand Theft Auto V and Max Payne 3, is now back in distribution after a little spat between Take-Two and its fanbase. The publisher stated that it would back down from its legal threats against the tool, leading the download option to return on OpenIV’s official website.
A week after sending out a cease-and-desist to the creators to OpenIV, the company had to go through Rockstar to help soothe over the whole situation and relax its threats at the tool’s developers. After this whole thing unraveled, the modders are back with OpenIV now in open distribution once more.
Upsetting your mod scene is not the best way to keep your community active and your game in good graces. Even the ultra popular Grand Theft Auto V hasn’t made enough dollars to break free from the clutches of its vehement supporters.
Don’t mess with gamers. They’ll downvote your Steam rating into oblivion.
