While it makes sense today, I imagine pitching the concept of the Nintendo Switch before it was approved was rather tough. It’s a console that plays on the TV, can be removed, has detachable controllers, works as a portable, the controllers also work for multiplayer and the console itself is the screen.
When you pull all the particulars away from the Nintendo Switch, it’s a complicated idea. Nintendo managed to market it in a way that makes sense (unlike what they did for the Wii U), so we had a firm understanding of what the Switch was ahead of release.
Now, thanks to Protodude on Twitter, we have a gallery of the illustrations Nintendo used to pitch the “Nintendo NX,” the previous codename for the Switch, internally.
Here they are, and they are glorious.
