Star Fox 2 devs were shocked to hear their game would release on SNES Classic

If you haven’t heard the word yet, this is pretty neat. The Super NES Classic will release on September 29, 2017, for $79.99. It’s slated to include “20+1” games. The “+1” there means that one of the titles will be unlockable.

That unlockable game is Star Fox 2.

Star Fox 2 never released. It was supposed to follow the original on the Super Nintendo, but the company made the jump to the Nintendo 64 and had to leave to game behind in the process. caught up with Q-Games Founder and Star Fox 2 creator Dylan Cuthbert about the news of his game’s inclusion in the Super NES Classic. Here he is:

“I didn’t know about it at all… We don’t have any work happening with Nintendo right now so there wouldn’t have been an NDA-safe way of letting me know anyway. On the other hand, I got to have a big awesome surprise like everyone else so I’m quite happy about that…

…It’s an absolutely awesome feeling. Incredible really. Perhaps a first in the games industry even.”

It’s incredible that Nintendo held onto the old work and found a way to repurpose it into something meaningful for longtime fans. I’m excited to play Star Fox 2 for the first time ever.

…If I can get my hands on one of these systems.
