During an Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Reddit on Tuesday, OnePlus revealed that it will distribute the upcoming Android O update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T before the end of the year.

“How long do you intend on supporting the OP3 / OP3T family?” asked Reddit user lookitzpancakes (cool handle, by the way), to which OnePlus responded: “OP3/3T will receive Android O within this year.”

Android O is set to be one of Android’s most significant¬†updates to date, bringing a number of new features to the open-source operating system, including picture-in-picture, notification dots, and app badges.

Android O = Android Oreo?

Google’s still yet to announce¬†the official flavor of Android O, though, like most, we’re guessing it’ll be called Oreo. Fortunately, we shouldn’t have to wait too much longer to find out as the firm’s rumored to start rolling out the firmware at the beginning August.
