The NES Classic was one of the hit toys of Christmas 2016, but they were beyond scarce. Nintendo is promising that won’t be a problem with the SNES Classic when it releases this fall.
Speaking to Kotaku, a Nintendo spokesperson offered the following:
We aren’t providing specific numbers, but we will produce significantly more units of Super NES Classic Edition then we did of NES Classic Edition.
Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition is currently planned to ship from Sept. 29 until the end of calendar year 2017. At this time we have nothing to announce regarding any possible shipments beyond this year.
Here’s to hoping
We know when to start lining up, when to stop lining up, and we have a promise that it won’t be as bad as last time. The NES Classic was a great system, and the SNES Classic will likely be just as entertaining, thanks to games like Earthbound, Mario Kart, Star Fox, and the surprise inclusion of the previously-unreleased Star Fox 2. we’d just like a chance to get our hands on one.
