Xperia XZ Premium now available in the United States

As expected, Sony’s latest flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ Premium, is now available to purchase in the United States from Amazon and Best Buy — but that doesn’t mean you should pick one up.

For some strange reason, Sony has assigned a $799.99 price tag to the Xperia XZ Premium, which is a lot of money to spend on a handset that doesn’t even ship with a fingerprint reader.

To add to the disappointment, the variant of the Xperia XZ Premium that’s on the market in the United States only works with GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile, so it can’t be used on Sprint or Verizon.

Honestly, if you reside in the region and desperately want to get your hands on the Xperia XZ Premium, your best bet is to import a unit from Europe. That way you’ll be able to take advantage of the fingerprint sensor and use the handset with CDMA operators.
