OnePlus 5 vs. iPhone 7 Plus: Apple has even more competition

by Brandon Russell | June 20, 2017June 20, 2017 10:30 am PDT

No, that’s not an iPhone 7 Plus you’re looking at.

Now that the OnePlus 5 has officially been unveiled, many are noting how similar it looks to last year’s iPhone 7 Plus. Whether you consider it to be a good or bad thing, there’s no question the designer at OnePlus took inspiration from Apple’s handset. They say imitation is the highest form of flattery.

Be that as it may, OnePlus 5 can stand on its own merits—not least of which is its more affordable price. You also get similar dual-camera technology, the latest specs, and a number of additional features, such as Dash Charge support and a mind-blowing amount of RAM.

But people don’t buy the iPhone for its specs; a device like the iPhone 7 Plus is so popular because it offers great software and a fantastic camera (which, admittedly, is starting to fall behind compared to the likes of the Galaxy S8).

The OnePlus 5, again, takes a similar approach in that it provides consumers with clean software without all the unnecessary fluff. We’ve seen OxygenOS, OnePlus’ mobile software, flourish over the past several months, and it’s even better in the OnePlus 5.

A device like the OnePlus 5 is great because it provides potential iPhone switchers with an accessible Android experience, along with a fantastic design and the latest technology available.

Of course, the iPhone 7 Plus is months old by now, with the iPhone 8’s shadow is already starting to loom over the horizon. Until that day comes, check out the chart below to see how the OnePlus 5 stands up to Apple’s best.
