Sony has finally finished its Nougat rollout

Earlier today, Sony started distributing the Android 7.0 update for the Xperia XA.

Why’s that significant, I hear you ask? Well, it’s the last device on the firm’s list to receive the upgrade, which means that after ten grueling months, it’s finally finished its Nougat rollout.

We’re a little surprised it didn’t wrap it up sooner though, especially when you consider that Samsung pledged to release the update for a lot more devices than Sony, and overtook it within the first month.

Nevertheless, not many manufacturers — including Samsung — stick to their word when it comes to firmware upgrades, so Sony is definitely due some credit.

Circling back to the Xperia XA

The update is now rolling out for the Xperia XA in Europe and North America, and brings all of the changes you’d expect to find baked into Nougat, like new emoji and enhanced notifications.
