Microsoft aiming to ape Horizon Zero Dawn? Job posting says so

Microsoft is apparently going after talent capable of producing a title similar to the PlayStation 4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerilla Games. The word comes from a job posting from a couple of months back.

The posting was for a Lead Environment Artist position, and it was tossed up on behalf of Microsoft by a recruiter named G3D. In that posting, they advertise their need for a developer capable of producing something “similar to Horizon Zero Dawn.”

The position would be working on a “Microsoft AAA Nextgen Title,” which contains like two sort of nonsense words in a row.

Sony’s massive title was a resounding success when it released earlier this year, mounting itself as the talk of the gaming town until The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild reared up and stole the spotlight.

Microsoft would be smart to look closely at a game like Horizon Zero Dawn for inspiration when it comes to open world design. Surely, it’s one of the best first-party titles in the genre from either of the console makers.

If this turns into something real, we’ll be all over it. For now, know that Microsoft is cooking up something potentially special.
