Galaxy S8 owners have a new exclusive Play Music perk

The Galaxy S8 was Samsung’s first smartphone to ship with Play Music as the default audio player. As you can imagine, this news came as a bit of a shock to die-hard Galaxy fans who were used to the firm’s in-house Music Player, but to encourage them to try it out Google introduced a couple of extra perks: the facility to upload 100,000 songs to their virtual locker instead of the standard 50,000 and a free three-month trial of All Access.

In addition, Big G also revealed back in April that it was working on an exclusive feature for the Galaxy S8, and it looks like it’s finally here. On Saturday, a Reddit user noticed a new radio station tucked away within the Play Music application. It’s called New Release Radio and, as its name suggests, generates a personalized mix of the freshest tracks exclusively for owners of Samsung’s flagship smartphone.

Don’t count on it being an exclusive for too long

A radio station wasn’t exactly our first thought when we heard that Google was developing a Play Music “feature” for Galaxy S8 owners (we thought it was trying to find a way to incorporate Bixby), but we’re not going to look this gift horse in the mouth. We have to say, though, allowing other devices to access the channel is a relatively easy task — and that’s exactly what we expect the company to do in a couple of months time.
