Undertale brings its charming tunes and skeleton dates to new homes

Developer Toby Fox’s pacifist RPG Undertale was my Game of the Year choice back in 2015, and I’ve always been meaning to jump back in for another few spins. However, my gaming PC dying put a damper on that, and I just can’t get the motivation install it on this temporary computer, especially without my old save file. A handheld version would be so much more natural and convenient for me at this point.

And so be it, in an announcement more exciting than anything at Sony’s big stage event, Undertale is getting a second life on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. Fangamer announced it is handling the port, but it did not provide a release date yet.

As it looks more and more like I’m destined to become a full-time handheld gamer in the next stage of my adult life, I often look for games that I will miss as I leave behind wires, consoles, and the forced attachment to a screen or monitor. Undertale often ranks highly among these games, alongside SaGa Frontier, so this announcement helps put my mind at ease.

However, I’m wondering how the Sony port will handle the game’s final boss fight. I won’t mention the reasoning behind my question for the sake of spoilers, but those who have beaten the game will certain know what I’m referring to.

Undertale will be coming to the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. It is available now for the PC.
