Samsung will let you try out new Bixby features early

Are you anxious to get your hands on Samsung’s missing-in-action Bixby Voice feature early? Now you can, thanks to a new early access program launched by Samsung on Friday.

The landing page for the program reminds Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus owners that the delayed voice features are still on the way, but some quality assurance needs to be performed before launching on a wider scale. But, be warned, as Samsung says its voice assistant may struggle to recognize your accent.

“Not all accents, dialects and expressions recognized,” Samsung writes on its website. Additionally, the voice features will only recognize English (U.S.) and Korean.

Samsung’s terms go on to say it can’t guarantee the “accuracy, completeness and reliability of Bixby.”

Last we heard, Samsung was struggling to launch Bixby Voice because the technology was having a difficult time understanding the English language, which is why the feature has yet to be released here in the U.S. Rumor has it Samsung is shooting for a July launch, but even that timeframe may be too ambitious, according to the latest reports.

As of now, Bixby isn’t the complete package Samsung promised when the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus were unveiled. Once Bixby’s voice features launch, users will be able to send texts, change settings, and more using nothing but their voice.

If you own a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8 Plus, you can sign up for the early access program now.
