13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim E3 2017 trailer – Japanese high-school kids and giant mechs

Odin Sphere developer VanillaWare confirmed that its latest game 13 Sentinel: Aegis Rim will be getting a worldwide release on the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. I have seen the game advertised around Japan, but I haven’t yet jumped in to see what it is actually about.

This E3 2017 trailer is my first look at the game, and it’s pretty rad if you’re into giant robot anime.

Thirteen Japanese high school kids star in this game, and my guess is they pilot thirteen robots to save the world. VanillaWare’s style has created wonders with fantasy and Japanese mythology settings, but we have yet to see how it handles a science fiction story. Creating giant robots can’t be that much different from creating the monsters that it has done in its previous games.

I’ll wait until we see some actual combat gameplay to make any final decisions, but this teaser trailer is quite cool.

13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim will be released for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. Naturally, Atlus will be acting as publisher.
