Nintendo is prepping to announce the release dates of its next biggest Nintendo Switch exclusives, Super Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. While the Nintendo Direct presentation isn’t scheduled to happen until later this week, GoNintendo has leaked the release dates way in advance.
According to the website and its sources at GameStop, Super Mario Odyssey will be released on Nov. 17, and Nintendo will pitch it to gamers this year as “Mario’s first sandbox-style game since Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine.” Come to think about it, that’s entirely true! The Galaxy games and 3D World were very linear games, but if you dig deep enough, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine were sandboxes after all.
I never thought to put a label on those two games, but it makes sense. Attendees will be able to play the game on the show floor.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 slips into 2018
Nintendo finally did a bit of soul searching and realized that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 couldn’t possibly be released before the end of 2017. The entire internet told them it was impossible, and no matter how much it fought back against the comments, it’s finally admitted some harsh truths to itself.
If you’re ready to smack around giant robots in your own towering mech, you’ll have to wait until February 2018 to finally play.
These leaks are just a rumor for now. The E3 2017 Nintendo Direct will air Tuesday, June 13 at 9 a.m. PT.
