Wolfenstein: The New Colossus takes the fight stateside this fall

As hinted at last year, as leaked repeatedly this year, a new Wolfenstein game, a direct sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order, is on the way – and it’s not far off. At Bethesda’s short, sweet E3 show, the developer/publisher announced Wolfenstein: The New Colossus. The game starts up after the events of The New Order, complete with BJ Blaskowicz wearing the armor he ended up in at the end of the previous game.

Now, BJ and the resistance are taking the fight back to the United States, where Nazi occupation is in full swing. It’s an ugly, dark version of America, and the resistance needs to inspire the beaten-down Americans to start fighting back.

This isn’t a surprise, and I’m still thrilled

I really wasn’t expecting Wolfenstein: The New Order when it hit back in 2014. Developer Machine Games took a pretty silly game series that had seem some ups and downs over the years and made it into an alt-world science fiction story that managed to marry the game’s silly elements with the serious world they reflected.

With that game in our rear view mirror and tons of leaks leading up to the announcement of this one, it’s not a surprise. But after the high bar set by The New Order, it’s easily one of my most-anticipated games of this fall.

Wolfenstein: The New Colossus hits PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 27, 2017.
