Overwatch is getting its first ever Double XP weekend

by Joey Davidson | June 8, 2017June 8, 2017 8:00 am PDT

Bust out your cases of Mountain Dew, pallets of Cooler Ranch Doritos and buckets of Vizine, because this weekend will feature another epic Double XP Call of Du— wait a minute, no, that’s not right.
It’s…

It’s Overwatch that’s offering a 2X XP weekend! This is the first time Blizzard’s ever done one of these for Overwatch. ***AIR HORNS THAT GO ON FOR DAYS AND DAYS***

As part of the one year anniversary, Blizzard’s giving everyone who logs in and plays, regardless of their platform of choice, double experience. As they write in their announcement, this extends to bonuses, too.

This bonus will apply to nearly all sources of in-game XP, including:

  • Time spent in a match
  • Completing a match
  • Completing consecutive matches
  • Winning a match
  • Backfilling a match in progress
  • Earning medals

It will also stack multiplicatively with existing group and IGR bonuses. The only experience it will not affect is your First Win of the Day bonus—which will remain at 1500 XP.

Double XP runs from Thursday, June 8, at 5:00 p.m. PT until Monday, June 12, at 11:59 p.m. PT.

This is a huge opportunity to scoop up tons of experience and pile on those Anniversary Event loot boxes before they’re gone for good. Good luck out there, heroes.
