OnePlus 5: OnePlus confirms design, shares first image

Not much is being left to the imagination ahead of the OnePlus 5’s June 20 announcement. Following a leaked image of the device, OnePlus on Thursday confirmed the OnePlus 5’s final design by releasing a teaser image, which again makes mention of the phone’s dual camera setup.

And, yes, the OnePlus 5 looks very much like the iPhone 7 Plus, which isn’t a bad thing.

While the newly released image doesn’t give us a full view of the phone, we can still glean a few details, like the fact that the fingerprint sensor will remain on the front. (Frankly, that’s the most convenient and flexible location.)

The OnePlus 5 will also be very thin, something the company’s CEO already confirmed.

It’s unusual for a company to confirm so many details ahead of a phone’s announcement, but considering how much has been leaked over the past few weeks, it seems OnePlus wanted to take back control of the rumor mill.

Based on what we know thus far, it seems as though the OnePlus 5 will be a lot like the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. The major difference, of course, will be its dual camera setup, which is becoming an increasingly popular addition in big flagships.

In addition to knowing what the OnePlus 5 will look like, OnePlus recently confirmed the device will feature a Snapdragon 835 chip. Now all we need to know is how much it will cost.

The OnePlus 5 will be announced on June 20 at 12 p.m. EDT.
