Both the announcements of Pokken Tournament Deluxe and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon have been met with mixed and meh reactions across the board. The Nintendo Direct wasn’t a total bust for the company though with one piece of news escaping with universal praise.
Gen. 2, Pokémon Gold and Silver, will be heading to the Nintendo 3DS eShop on Sept. 22. The date marks the 17th anniversary of their release in North America.
As with the re-releases of Pokémon Red and Blue, this version will have updated online multiplayer and access to the Pokémon Bank. It will be as updated so as to meet modern standards as much as it can, of course, without doing away with its sweet 8-bit graphics.
A whole new adventure for me!
Gen. 2 is the only Pokémon generation I have missed out on, and it’s also the one that most old timers hold in the highest regard. I can’t wait to finally find out why for myself. The added Pokémon outside of the original 151 might not do it for me, but I have waves of new mechanics and a whole new map to uncover. How exciting!
In fact, the only way that Nintendo could make this news any better is if it used the games as its launch title for the Nintendo Switch Virtual Console!
*crickets* Yeah, I thought it was a stretch, too.
