Among the notable updates arriving with iOS 11, person-to-person Apple Pay payments between iMessage users was particularly interesting.

The feature puts Apple in the same market as Venmo and Square Cash. Apple didn’t get into specifics about the feature, but it will work within iMessages and allow iPhone users to send money. Since it’s Apple, it will most likely have deep integration with its software and hardware making it much easier to use than other payment services.

iPhone users will access Apple Pay the same way they access third-party apps within iMessage. You will authenticate the payment with Touch ID.

Apple also unveiled Apple Pay Cash card. This will be cash within Apple Pay that can be used for purchases and can be transferred back to banks easily.

iOS 11 with the updates of Apple Pay is now available to developers and will be available to all users in the fall.
