NieR: Automata is making its way into a whole lot of homes

NieR: Automata is turning out to be the sleeper hit of 2017, and that’s saying a lot considering this year is overflowing with excellent titles that have flown under the radar. Even after spending some time with Link in Breath of the Wild, I still think Platinum Games’ excellent action romp is my favorite game of 2017.

And that makes its success so much sweeter. Square Enix and Platinum Games have confirmed that the post-apocalyptic action game has crossed 1.5 million units shipped worldwide, making it a huge success for such a niche title.

And that is just the disc version

This figure only represents the physical versions sold to retailers, meaning that the 1.5 million doesn’t take into consideration digital sales. No matter how you spin it, this game bullseyed a market that was looking for both fresh and familiar. Excellent game, be sure to check it out.

NieR: Automata is available for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
