Instagram’s new ‘archive’ option lets you temporarily hide posts

Instagram has quietly rolled out a new ‘archive’ feature for Android and iOS, which lets you temporarily hide posts from your profile, but keeps them safe for you to look at in private and restore at any time.

Speaking to TechCrunch on Tuesday, Instagram confirmed that it’s testing the feature and added that it was designed to create a private space for personal viewing of old posts.

How do I archive a post?

As is usually the case with these things, access to the option is rolling out in stages. To see if it’s ready for you, open a post, tap the three-dots, then look for a button entitled Archive.

Once you’ve archived a post, you can view it by heading into the profile tab and pressing the encircled clock icon in the upper-right corner.
