Capcom’s fan-favorite sleeper hit Dragon’s Dogma is still without a proper sequel after all these years, but I have no problem with the original being more accessible than ever. The publisher has confirmed that the expanded game Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be getting a port on the PlayStaion 4 and Xbox One this year.
Famitsu claims that the game will be released in celebration for its five-year anniversary. Man, has it really been that long?
Time to get back into Dark Arisen once again
Dragon’s Dogma stole my heart years ago with its generic fantasy setup rested on the shoulders of Devil May Cry combat. However, I also remember that the game came plagued with really poor design choices and a host of issues that held it back from being exceptional. The lack of fast travel was the back-breaker for me in those days.
Apparently, Dark Arisen adds a fast travel system, and it irons out a lot of the other issues I had with the game back in 2012. I never got around to playing the expansion, and I think if there was any game from the previous generation I would like to give another chance, it would be this. Consider this Dragon’s Dogma third chance to really live up to its potential. Its’s an action RPG like no other that deserves your attention, and it just needs to clear a few hurdles here and there.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the fall of 2017 in Japan. Hey Capcom, your English-speaking fans loved this one, too!
