Middle-earth: Shadow of War returns in a new trailer designed to get fans pumped to enter its violent, open world interpretation of Middle-earth once again. The decapitations of thousands of orcs are not the focus here, but rather, just the world that players will be waging war in.
Middle-earth is a beautiful place, even when it’s soaked in the blood of enemies of the free people.
So much death. What can men do against such reckless hate?
I liked the first Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor a lot, and while I don’t mind violence in video games, I always felt that it was a little… overblown for the Tolkien universe. Monolith Productions made even the Fallout developers say “Come on now, guys…”
But then again, this is the Lord of the Rings game I grew up playing.
Yeah, we’ve come a long way… or have we? In all fairness, this game had an open world that dwarfs the open world games of today. We’re talkin’ full-on Gimli dwarfing, here.
Middle-earth: Shadow of War launches for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Aug. 22.
