ARMS adds three new characters to its roster, plenty of fighting modes

by Ron Duwell | May 18, 2017

Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation dedicated to the upcoming fighting game ARMS announced a whole host of modes and gameplay varieties, finally making it feel more like a full package rather than a gimmicky way to sell more Joy-Cons.

And in addition to the added bonus modes, the game scored three new characters each with their own trailer. Or actually… is it four characters? Byte & Barq appear to be two different people controlled by a single player, making him, in the gameplay sense, a single character.

Enough fight to make this a lasting title

During the Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed tons of ways to play the upcoming fighter. This list extends to:

  • Normal fights
  • 2-on-2 team fights
  • V-ball
  • Hoops
  • Skillshot
  • 1-0n-100
  • ARMS test
  • Training

Multiplayer can also be enjoyed competitively, casually, and locally. ARMS will be released for the Nintendo Switch on July 16.
