Instagram introduces new set of face filters for yet more fun

by Josh Levenson | May 16, 2017

Instagram has updated its application for Android and iOS. The upgrade bundles support for eight Snapchat-style augmented reality face filters and three new creative tools in the form of a rewind mode that plays videos in reverse; an eraser brush, which removes annotations you’ve drawn over an image; and the ability to add sticker hashtags to a story.

Just like Snapchat, Instagram’s face filters work regardless of whether you’re using the front or back camera. To get started with them, open the camera interface in the application and tap the new filter icon located in the bottom-right corner. Oh, and as noted by The Verge, the filters can be used in any of Instagram’s shooting modes — photo, video and even Boomerang.
