Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is finally making his way to the DC Expanded Universe as Black Adam, and he’s going to have an epic showdown with Superman.

That’s the news the superstar revealed during an interview with Fandango. He has been teasing Black Adam’s introduction to the DCEU for a while now. He even posted an Instagram picture with him and Superman himself, Henry Cavill, back in December teasing a Superman and Black Adam battle. Fandango asked him if a potential match-up between the two characters was in the works, and his response gave fanboys something to get excited about.

“It’s definitely going to happen,” Johnson said. “We’ve had great conversations with Geoff Johns and everyone over at DC. It’s an exciting time right now for everyone at DC because they are in a process now where they are building out [their DC universe] really nicely. We have a really cool surprise with Black Adam. I can’t reveal with where we will see Black Adam actually being introduced,” he continued.

When asked if he was going to put the smack down on Superman, Johnson had this to say, “One fine day…that’s coming. That’s in the cards.”

This is great news for the DCEU

That’s awesome news. The DCEU has been lacking charisma, and Johnson will bring a ton of it as Black Adam. He’s one of the biggest movie stars in the world right now, so he’ll add a great dimension to the DCEU. An epic battle with Superman would also be a great jumping board to set up a standalone Black Adam movie.

Johnson has been attached to the role of Black Adam as far back as 2008. It only took nearly a decade to get the movie made. It’s about time Hollywood.
