Madden NFL 18 G.O.A.T. Edition – Tom Brady rips apart the curse

EA has confirmed that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will be this year’s cover athlete for Madden NFL 18, and the release is expanding further than ever with a never before seen G.O.A.T. Edition. For those who don’t follow sports, G.O.A.T. stands for “Greatest of All Time” which some believe Tom Brady to be after he won his unprecedented fifth Super Bowl for a quarterback this past February.

Naturally, this level of success means that many others have fallen before his perfect spiral, raising the stakes of the dreaded “Madden Curse” to higher levels than ever before. New England Patriots fans have slipped into deep superstition following last season when their cover athlete Rob Gronkowski got injured and required surgery, knocking him out for the remainder of the season. Meanwhile, fans of 31 other teams wouldn’t mind seeing the decline of Tom Brady, who will be 40-years-old this coming season and has been tearing up the NFL for the past 15 seasons.

As for Tom Brady himself, he issued a statement for his gratitude on being chosen.

The cover is a great honour for me. Especially since I have been playing the game since growing up next to EA headquarters in the Bay Area. I’m not one to believe in curses, so I’m ready to take the challenge head on like always! It doesn’t stand a chance!!!

However, in recent years, Brady is also known for expanding his star athlete presence onto social media, and it is there that he started having more fun with trashing talking the curse.

And the fun didn’t stop there

After the charming reveal of walking under ladders and smashing mirrors, trying to settle his fans down, Brady just ran away with it, producing pure comedy gold.

Greatest of all time, folks! If Tom Brady can’t beat the “Madden Curse” in 2017-2018, then it goes without saying that nobody is safe. As said, the stakes have never been higher.

Madden NFL 18 will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Aug. 25. This will be the first year that EA Sports does not release the game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Go Pats!
