Sonic Mania video features Knuckles and nostalgia

by Joey Davidson | May 12, 2017

I hope you have speakers or headphones available to you right now, because the music for the Flying Battery Zone in the Sonic series is among my favorites.

This comes from Sonic Mania, the upcoming sprite-based Sonic title being made by Headcannon and PagodaWest Games. As with all things Sonic, try to temper your expectations a bit. This does look good.

The music, the classic look and the way the game appears to play are all callbacks to how I personally remember the Sonic series on the Sega Genesis. Hopefully, this thing plays like we all remember, because that would be awesome.

Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces both look cool

There are two marquee Sonic titles right now. There’s this game, Sonic Mania, and then there’s a modern entry called Sonic Forces that’s being developed by Sonic Team. Both are shaping up in interesting ways, and both are due out this year.

Sonic Mania is slated for a summer or fall release for 2017 on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
