Shantae: Half-Genie Hero announced for the Nintendo Switch

WayForward’s sassy genie heroine Shantae will be jumping to the Nintendo Switch in the coming year in her latest game, Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. The company took to its official Twitter account to announce the port and possibly tease an exclusive color scheme for Shantae’s outfit.

That color scheme is so sweet. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero already saw a release on the Wii U, so this new port will be a cross-generational indie affair, something that Nintendo was rumored not to be a fan of.

A decent place to start, but hardly the series’ best

If you’re new to the Shantae series and need a place to jump into it, this is a perfectly fine place to start. I said so in my review, and I say so here. Break the ice, learn the characters, then go ahead and play Shantae: Risky’s Revenge and Shantae: The Pirate’s Curse, both of which are more finely tuned games that touch on Shantae’s universe in a much deeper and shockingly emotional manner.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero is already available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, and PlayStation Vita. No release window for the Nintendo Switch has been announced yet.
