Injustice 2 launches next week with both NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive looking to capitalize on the upward momentum of their fighting game franchises. Rarely do fighting games based on licenses ever do so well critically, but the first Injustice shocked the world by being a pretty decent brawler. Mortal Kombat is also no slouch these days either.
No pressure, guys! Injustice 2 has a lot to live up to, and NetherRealm Studios is the best to get that potential under wraps. This latest trailer from the studio spells out the plot, setting up the ever-important exposition as to why iconic characters are duking it out mano-y-mano.
Oh great, Batman and Superman are fighting again. Splendid…
I like where NetherRealms has taken the DC Universe, even though I am not nearly as involved with the lore as many others are. The fan reception of the Injustice games is what pleases me the most with some of my friends talking about its storyline like it’s a comic book all on its own.
Not sure if I’ll pick the game up, but I do hope that it does well. Good licensed games are hard to find on the consoles anymore, and Warner Bros. could possibly have a winner here.
Injustice 2 will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 16.
