Google wants to help you not spend another night on the couch

Next time you fire up Google on your smartphone and search something to do, you’ll see a new ‘Events’ box, which compiles information from a host of services — like Eventbrite and Meetup — to display a list of things happening in your area.

To give it a go, open up the Google application or mobile website and type in something along the lines of “music events near me this week.” You should then see a variety of options, including an extended event calendar and tabs for different days of the week.

The feature is currently only available in the U.S.

There’s a pretty big caveat, though. The feature is currently only available in the United States. Sadly, Google didn’t reveal whether it’ll make its way to other regions, but we’re guessing it will in a couple of weeks time.
