Echo Show unveiled by Amazon, launches June 28

by Sean P. Aune | May 9, 2017

Following several leaks, Amazon has officially announced the new Echo Look, the first of its Alexa devices to come with a built-in touchscreen.

The new Echo Look from Amazon is the first Alexa device from Amazon to feature a touchscreen. The 7-inch display will allow you to not only do things such as see a video version of your Flash Briefing, but it will also allow you to do things such as view video feeds from compatible security cameras from Ring and Arlo, watch lyrics of songs scroll past, and, possibly most excited, place and receive video calls.

To make sure that you can be any where in your room while making calls with the Echo Show, Amazon has placed eight microphones around the device to pick up your voice. The company says the screen has also been optimized to be viewed from across the room so that you don’t have to stay right in front of it. Calls can be made to other Echo Shows as well as anyone using the Alexa app on their phone.

In addition to all the new features the Echo Show adds, you will also find all of the features you currently use and enjoy such as being able to stream music from some of the most popular services, control smart home devices such as Nest products and Philips Hue lights and more.

Pre-orders have begun today for the Echo Show which is available in both black and white and will begin shipping on June 28 for $229.99. There is currently a promotion running that will save you $100 if you buy two of the devices using the offer code SHOW2PACK which you enter at the time of check out.
