Resident Evil: Code Veronica X launches on the PlayStation 4 today

Are the genuine horrors and psychological underpinnings of Outlast 2 not quite doing it for you? Then how about some blocky polygons, tacky voice acting, and late 90’s jump scares instead? Resident Evil: Code Veronica X will have plenty of those when it launches for the PlayStation 4 today.

Capcom confirmed the launch on its official Twitter page. The game will be getting a PlayStation 2 Classics release, not a full-on remaster like the last two Resident Evil re-releases.

The only abomination in this game is the controls

The late 90s formula for Resident Evil hasn’t exactly held up for those who weren’t around during its peak. In fact, I’d say a good many of you that played it back then still have a hard time readjusting to those tank controls. Code Veronica might have been groundbreaking when it first launched, but trust me, it’s no way to break into the series nowadays. This is one for the most hardcore of fans who need the retro trip.

All newcomers should play Resident Evil 5 or Resident Evil 7 instead. If you want to play one of the genuine older Resident Evil games and not one of the remakes, Resident Evil 2 is the best place to start.
