Gamer finds StarCraft source code, returns it to Blizzard and gets sweet swag

Reddit user Khemist49 has reaped the rewards of his honesty. After buying a bundle of Blizzard odds and ends on eBay, he found a gold disc with the official Blizzard logo and very telling words “Starcraft Gold Master Source Code” written across the front.

Yeah, that’s a “whoa” moment if I’ve ever heard one.

After taking it online to reddit, Khemist49 determined that it was real and questioned about what he should do with it. Blizzard got in touch and asked for it to be returned, and fellow gamers seemed torn between returning it to Blizzard and releasing the ISO to the public. Ultimately, he went with the former and mailed the disc back to Blizzard.

I have spoken to blizzard, the disc was in fact missing and believed to have been stolen. I told them i would return it, they are grateful and even said i would be rewarded. Doubt a cash reward or anything like that, but maybe some blizzard goodies? In all honesty, this is the right thing to do. If the disc fell into the wrong hands, it would not have been good for anybody

A few days later, in the mail, he received a box of swag from Blizzard which included a free copy of Overwatch, $250 in his Blizzard account, a host of other Blizzard peripherals, and best of all, an all-expenses-paid trip to BlizzCon.

See kids, it pays to do the right thing

Happy ending, no matter what the people who wanted the copy of the disc to leak onto the net say. Returning stolen property is the way to go, and it makes you feel goo way down deep in the feels.
