Prey launch trailer – Don’t run, don’t hide, don’t die

Prey, the first-person science-fiction game from Arkane Studios, is out tomorrow, and this new launch trailer gives a good overview of what we can expect from the game. Shooting, explosions, powers, aliens, and people in orange-red jumpsuits.

The hour-long demo is still available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, but the progress you make in that doesn’t carry over to the main game, so it might make sense to just wait at this point.

Space bugs and game bugs alike

Regardless of platform, you’ll want to give a bit of extra time once you have the game installed, as there’s a 1.3GB patch in the wings to fix some lingering issues with the title. Some of the patch notes are pretty interesting, considering this game is full of transforming aliens that have the ability to mimic objects and maybe even people. Previously, some enemies could occasionally show through walls and chain telepathic attacks on the player, while the video game staple exploding barrels simply wouldn’t explode on certain enemies.

The patch also addresses a variety of bugs with various visual and sound effects, audio files, saving and loading, and frame rate. At 1.3GB, it’s not the smallest patch we’ve ever seen, but it’s far from the worst.

Prey is out on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 5.
