Samsung Pay may launch in the U.K. on Tuesday, May 16

Believe it or not, Samsung Pay is still yet to launch in the United Kingdom — but that could be about to change. According to two customer support assistants, the South Korean company is gearing up to launch its mobile payment platform in the region on Tuesday, May 16.

If this turns out to be true, the U.K. will be the fourteenth country that Samsung Pay has been released in since its debut in South Korea back in August 2015. It’s currently available in Australia, Brazil, China, Malaysia, Puerto Rico, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Thailand and the UAE and U.S.

Samsung Pay supports both NFC and MST

For comparison, Apple Pay — which launched in October 2014 — is reportedly only accessible in fifteen regions, so Samsung has certainly done a good job at catching up, and with support for both NFC (Near Field Communication) and MST payments, many would claim it’s also built the better service.
