LocoRoco Remastered coming to the PlayStation 4 next month

LocoRoco Remastered slipped from my memory, but I can now remember that it was announced at PlayStation Experience 2016 at the end of last year. I was more excited for Parappa the Rapper Remastered at the time, but after realizing how much I love the rapping dog with pixelated art, maybe I shouldn’t have been.

At any rate, Sony will be bringing the popular and portable 2D platformer LocoRoco to the PlayStation 4 next month on May 9. The game was an early hit for the PSP back in 2006, and it helped solidify the console’s experimental roots alongside Sony’s other hit from those days, Patapon. The physics are sure to hold up in 2017, and the boost from your choice between 1080p and 4K screen resolution is only bound to help this game run smoother.

Unlike Parappa the Rapper, there is no pixelation to smooth out and no synch issues with the rhythm.

Antithesis of the Nintendo Switch

The release is somewhat funny considering the effect that the Nintendo Switch might have on the industry. While it looks to bring console gaming to the palm of your hands like never before, Sony has been bringing several of its portable games to the home consoles. LocoRocoGravity Rush, these games that were originally accessible on handhelds are finding themselves rooted to a television set.

Weird… where are video games going from here?

LocoRoco Remastered will be available on the PlayStation 4 on May 9.
