Dual rear-facing cameras were somewhat of a gimmick when first introduced with the HTC One M8 back in 2014, but they’re quickly becoming a headline feature on the latest flagships. According to a new rumor, the next-generation OnePlus 5 will be following suit.
OnePlus has been blowing our minds with its high-end smartphones, which combine great design and impressive specifications with affordable price tags. Its latest model, the OnePlus 3T, has no problem competing with the latest flagships from rival smartphone makers, yet it costs a lot less. Rumor has it the OnePlus 5 will be even more spectacular.
In addition to delivering OnePlus’ first Quad HD display and Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor, the OnePlus 5 will offer dual rear-facing cameras, according to a report from India Today. The image above was reportedly sourced from “people who have seen the phone,” which is expected to look similar to the OnePlus 3T, during production.
“According to our sources, one important thing to note about this OnePlus 5 image is that the design is not final yet,” the report adds. “Some aspects of the design may change as OnePlus tweaks the phone ahead of its possible launch in June.”
It’s not yet clear whether the OnePlus 5 will combine a traditional camera sensor with a telephoto lens that offers optical zoom — similar to that of the iPhone 7 Plus — or whether its focus will be on delivering greater photos in low light settings. It’s thought the front-facing camera will be the same 16-megapixel shooter currently found in the OnePlus 3T.
The OnePlus 5 could make its official debut around June, so we may not have too long to wait before all of this becomes official. In the meantime, you should probably take rumors like these with a pinch of salt.
