Overwatch pro dropped from team after absurd racial meltdown

Video games are super serious business, and it is totally normal for players to lose their ever-loving minds during competitive matches. Except that they aren’t, and it isn’t.

Professional Overwatch player and former Toronto eSports member Matt “Dellor” Vaughn had a meltdown on Twitch earlier this week. One of his viewers happened to be recording and uploaded the nonsense to YouTube for posterity. Warning, the video is exceptionally loud and includes repeated use of a racial slur.

Dellor’s been canned

“Toronto Esports is an organization built on inclusivity, and we have always had a zero- tolerance policy for any forms of discrimination,” Toronto eSports President Ryan Pallett said in a released statement. “Immediately upon learning of the incident, the player was interviewed, admitted to the offence, and was notified that his contract with the organization was being terminated”

Fair enough. Don’t be jerks, friends. It won’t get you very far.

Dellor said he’s done with eSports after this whole thing. We imagine that’s true.
