Earth Day was last weekend. There were all sorts of small marketing efforts from publishers and developers looking to move their software. One that made a lot of sense was Prey, the upcoming shooter from Arkane and Bethesda.
Why does Prey make sense for an Earth Day-focused ad? The Recycle Charge, of course. You can recycle bits and pieces of just about everything in the game at a special station. Or, you can use a weapon to recycle stuff in an open space. That one sounds a bit risky, but what could go wrong?
Here’s what the official team says about the clip.
Earth Day might be all about our planet… but that won’t stop us from celebrating while aboard Talos I. In honor of the global holiday, we took a moment to tidy up our orbiting space station, recycling anything and everything we could find, then using the handy Recycler Charge to clean up some more. From trash to treasures to Typhon aliens, we’re going green in the most awesome way imaginable.
So they recycled… Earth…
Towards the end of the clip, our hero lobs a charge into space, a few cuts later we see what looks like Earth vanish into the void. I wonder what sort of sweet crafting materials they scored from that move?
Prey launches on May 5 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC platforms. You can play the first hour for free on April 27 if you have a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
