Looking forward to the new Fire Emblem? These games always pack beautifully animated cutscenes, and it looks like this potentially inspired remake of an entry the west never played carries that tradition forward.
Here’s a look at what we’ll see when we start our quest, granted it won’t be in Japanese. You get the point.
Fire Emblem Echoes features some fresh ideas
This new game offers third-person dungeon crawling, a first for the Fire Emblem series. We saw it in motion at PAX East this year, and it’s absolutely free range dungeon exploration, complete with enemies roaming the open space. Bump into them, and a normal Fire Emblem battle begins just like it would on the large map.
I’m not sure if it will be a grinding experience or one that I actually enjoy, but dungeon dives seem like a major change in the formula. Nintendo was never clear with us about how much of the game will be in these dungeons, either.
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia will sell for the Nintendo 3DS on May 19, 2017.
