Alcatel is planning to release a new budget tablet, known as the A30, that sports an 8-inch (1280×800) display and Android N.

A trusted source provided the image you see above, along with specs for the device, which are below.

Alcatel A30 specs:

  • 8-inch 1280×800 IPS display with durable Asahi glass
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core 1.1GHz processor
  • 16GB of internal storage (microSD expandable up to 32GB)
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 5-megapixel camera; 5-megapixel front-facing camera
  • Android N
  • IR blaster

It’s a decidedly mid-range device with an average design, featuring a textured back and a protruding camera.

The photo suggests the tablet, which could be available on May 26, will sport a SIM slot and be available through T-Mobile. Our source couldn’t confirm when the device will launch, nor how much it would cost.

For what it’s worth, Alcatel released a tablet on T-Mobile last year that retailed for $130. We can’t confirm that will be the price of the company’s upcoming slate, but I suspect it won’t be far off.

While Alcatel’s tablet doesn’t have any real distinguishing features, its affordability will be a big selling point. If we go by the date shown on the image’s screen, expect the device to pop up next month.
