Latest Snapchat update adds rear-facing 3D World Lenses

by Josh Levenson | April 18, 2017

On Tuesday, Snapchat updated its Android and iOS client with a new feature called World Lenses, which brings popular selfie Lenses to the rear-facing camera, but with a hint of AR.

“While Snapping with the rear-facing camera, simply tap the camera screen to find new Lenses that can paint the world around you with new 3D experiences,” explains the firm.

There’s not really much else to say about the upgrade, other than that the new effects look fantastic. Some may even say (heaven forbid) realistic.

You can see World Lenses in action below:

The upgrade is rolling out in stages

As is usually the case, the upgrade is rolling out in stages, so if it’s not showing up in the App Store or Play Store for you just yet, don’t panic. It will shortly.
