Budget-friendly Galaxy J5 (2017) spotted in the wild

We’ve known for a while that Samsung is working on a refreshed variant of one of its most popular mid-range smartphones, the Galaxy J5, but now we’re catching our first glimpse of the design of the handset.

Nothing too exciting, right? But that’s to be expected. After all, the Galaxy J5 (2017) is intended to be an affordable device, so Samsung isn’t going to spend a fortune on researching and implementing a groundbreaking design.

That doesn’t mean the handset won’t pack a punch in the power department, though. A recent listing on a benchmark database points towards the Galaxy J5 (2017) sporting an Exynos 7870 CPU, a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU and 2GB of RAM.

Granted, it’s no match for the recently-announced Galaxy S8 (or even the Galaxy S7, for that matter), but it’s still pretty impressive when you consider it’s expected to carry a price tag of around $250.

It recently passed through the FCC

Unfortunately, Samsung is still yet to confirm when it’s planning to launch the Galaxy J5 (2017), but seeing as it recently passed through the FCC, we don’t think we’ll have to wait much longer to find out more.
